"Action" photography

16th March 2012
"Action" was the theme of last night's Club competition and I decided to stretch the brief somewhat as I didn't have any shots of beefy rugby players or motorcyclists leaning into bends. So these were my three entries:

First, the 'action' was piano playing and I tried to convey the notion of crescendo as movement in music. The judge hated it!

Secondly, I thought this collage caught the idea of hyper-activity or stimulated activity, in this case Ginseng. The painting in the background hangs in our hall and is called "Gathered Light Points" and I have always liked it because there is so much movement in the brush strokes. Again the Judge disliked it!

Finally, I thought of the "action" of time passing - I was really stretching the theme with this oneā€¦...

To my surprise the Judge loved it and awarded it 1st Place! So, you never, never know.
