ballinlough lane - the things you find when you look

22nd June 2011
I was up early this morning and our lane was very quiet (except for the wonderful birdsong). Bullfinches were the highlight - seeing them always thrills me as they are my favourite bird of the countryside. Sadly no photos of them today. However, I did take these of the flora and fauna and also hay ricks in Martin's field. Hay ricks are a sight that I fear will soon be completely gone from the Irish countryside with the advent of black plastic silage bales.

snails are not my strong point - anyone know what this beautiful little fella is?
