What lurks beneath Tesco!

10th February 2012
Strange though it may sound underground car-parks can sometimes be a great location for photography. Last night in our camera club www.mayophotographicclub.ie we had the first round of a competition entitled "Low Light" (not, "Low Life" as one wag put it - although maybe we should try that as a topic too!). These shots were my entries for the Black & White Section. Hope you like them.

Seemingly you don't have to go into underground caves to find stalactites

This shot came 3rd in the competiton:

And I am delighted to say this one, won!

I'd like to thank my friends Angelika and Peter who first gave me the idea of using this escalator as a subject.

Finally, I liked this one too - you would not think that the trees you see in an open-air car-park have their roots so far below. I also thought there was a nice play here between "Do you want to take the lift, the escalator or climb the tree?"

Photo comment By marion galt: Like the tree in concrete wasteland - great capture, as they say.
Photo comment By Michael O Sullivan: You cany beat a decent bit of black & white.
