we have arrived!

22nd November 2010
Jetlagged but happy to be here. We are staying in the oldest part of Kochi(formerly Cochin)in Kerala. Our hotel room looks out onto the first christian church to be built in India in the mid 1550's but obviously the history of the place is much older. It is a busy seaport
and we are near the waterfront.

We went shoe shopping today and while Connie was choosing her sandals, this wonderful shop front (and all its passing bustle) caught my eye. Computerisation has really come to India and this is one of the themes I want to explore - computer designed prints on cakes was stretching my expectations though!

Love the little boy hanging on to his Dad's finger, but dying to go in and explore.....

I love signage in India; not to point and laugh, but rather to ponder the imponderables. If any of you can stab a guess at what this rather swanky establishment mean by a 'non-hotel hotel' answers on a postcard please - or better still, leave a comment.
